The Blue Beetle is back for the first time on the screen!
Go and support this film. It is good for the whole family to watch. It is a solid movie with charismatic actors.
Some of the structural parts of the Blue Beetle ring close to the Spider-man movies; a young man gains super posers from a beetle/spider, and he has to adapt to these new powers asap, but clearly, the Blue Beetle is a fresh start for DC, and the DCCU.
We get a hero, a protagonist that is Mexican (Latino..Chicano), and this includes the culture, with a strong mom and grandmother. The movie also stars George Lopez.
This is not the original Blue Beetle.

The movie is filled with Easter eggs if you are willing to look.
The lead is played by Cobra Kai star Xolo Maridueña.
The Blue Beetle was a Charlton character (and prior to that he was a golden age hero), and all their characters were bought by DC Warner.
Alan Moore wanted his hands on the characters but Dick Giordano (or another executive) suggested he create his own characters---hence, the Owl in the Watchmen. Looks familiar?
