How to Draw...Neal Adam

Neal did not have a formal education beyond high school. He learned from the comics, and by assisting veteran comic strip artists. He was always looking at ways to improve (like the modern day Arthur Adams who also continues to improve). Neal starting working early, late teens and early 20's. On Ben Casey he did the best that he could, creating and improving on many techniques. He compared his work daily to all the other comic strips in the paper.

No clean copies of Ben Casey have surfaced to create a book on it but they are worth looking for. He first drew his "hidden head" on Casey and not on Deadman for DC.

Luckily, there is one video on Neal teaching his inking technique to a young group of students at his alma mater.

Neal went on to improve the color availability for DC comics, creator rights, and many other advancements.
