First of all, they never should have been ripped away from their parents. The children were imprisoned in detention centers under atrocious physical and psychological conditions. As well, I had just finished reading Faraway Brothers, the painful story of twin brothers, who left El Salvador because of death threats and gang violence directed at them and their family.
President Biden formed a task force last month to speed the reunification of migrant children separated from their parents under the last administration’s “zero tolerance” policy.
