Al Williamson, March 21, 1931

Who was Al Williamson? He was a great artist of adventure. In his later years, he drew Star Wars for the comic strips, and for the comic books. He inspired a young George Lucas with his EC sci-fi stories,, from the 50s.

 Frazetta inks over Al Williamson.

Al also drew the Flash Gordon movie adaption. There would not have been a Star Wars if King Features had let George adapt Flash. George thought they wanted too much ($) so he created his own characters....the Star Wars characters.

Happy Birthday, Al Williamson!...1931-2010
