Robet E. Howard (REH) creator of Conan

REH's birthday on January 22 marks the 112 year since his birth.

He is the creator of many characters including Conan, Red Sonya, and Kull.

Howard worked in the 1930's and his work was once again brought to a larger audience in the 1960s with the famed Frazetta paperback covers and the with 1970s comic book version of Conan, edited and adapted by Roy Thomas. Thomas also wrote original tales of his own. The comic version of Conan continues.

After the death of his mother, Robert took his own life in 1936, at 30 years of age.

There is a good movie about his life, The Whole Wide World, starring Renee Zellweger and Vincent D'Onofrio (of Mystic Pizza fame). Give it a view.

Jason Momoa and Rose McGowan starred in the most recent Conan movie, and Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in the 80s version.
