Space Balls connection to the Star Wars Universe:
·
The princess is placed on table like
Frankenstein, and later Lucas uses that type of table to show the transition of
Anakin into Darth Vader in the prequels.
·
Six dwarfs, ala Jawas, sing like the seven
dwarfs of Disney, and several decades later Disney buys the Star Wars
universe.
·
There is a diner scene in Space Balls and later there is diner
sequence in the prequels by George Lucas.
·
Lucas gave Mel Brooks permission to make the
parody, but he was not allowed to make action figures nor related merchandise.
·
Mel Brooks had not made a movie in six years
when Space Balls came out in 1997.
·
Tom Hanks and Tom Cruise turned down the lead
role of the hero.
·
Post production for the movie was done at
Skywalker Ranch.
