Muhammad Ali dies at 74 Cassius Clay

He renounced his birth name of Cassius Clay for Muhammad Ali. He was willing to give up his crown for refusing to get drafted, and they took away his title, and his prime boxing years. He was a man of integrity. He died today. For many years he was the most famous athlete in the world. He loved stating how pretty he was and predicted the round in which he would knock out his opponents. He won the gold medal in 1960, and one the championship in 1964, and he met the Beatles then as well. Neal Adams later drew a comic starring Ali and Superman. It was ironic that a man that was quick witted was slowed in speech by Parkinson's. One of his daughters went on to become a boxer in her own right.
