Umberto Eco has passed. He was a great supporter of comics and sequential art.
From the New York Times: "As a semiotician, Mr. Eco sought to interpret cultures through their signs and symbols – words, religious icons, banners, clothing, musical scores, even cartoons – and published more than 20 nonfiction books on these subjects while teaching at the University of Bologna, Europe’s oldest university."
Harper Lee has died. She lived a reclusive life after the publication of to Kill a Mockingbird. Last year her new book came out. Lee was 89 years old when she passed, and was buried in her state of Alabama.
