A UN resolution for an immediate humanitarian cease-fire in Gaza was shot down by the US.
The 15 member Security Council vote results: 13 for the cease fire, US veto--nay, and the UK abstained, 13-1 final vote.
"Attacks from air, land, and sea are intense and widespread," U.N. Secretary-General Guterres. He also stated, prior to the vote, that Gaza residents are being moved to ever-smaller slivers of the south, minus the basics for survival.
The BBC is reporting over 100,000 buildings destroyed. Other outlets report a conservative figure of 40% of homes destroyed.
