Remembering Sacheen Littlefeather, she stood up for Native people, under a physical threat by John Wayne.

At the 1972 Academy Awards, Marlon Brando (Godfather) sent Sacheen Littlefeather to represent on his behalf, and she did.

John Wayne, allegedly, could not stand what Sacheen was saying and threatened to pull her off the stage, but folks prevented that from happening. Sacheen, bravely and intelligently, spoke about issues pertinent to indigenous people, and to everyone as well.

Clint Eastwood was also present, and apparently John Wayne was not keen on Clint's work, especially Clint's movie The Outlaw Josey Wales, which debuted four years later, in 1976.

Sacheen Littlefeather died recently, a short time after the Academy formally apologized to her for

her treatment that night.
