Art Laboe has died, famed DJ of the Oldies but Goodies

Armenian-American Arthur Egnoian, better known as Art Laboe was 97 when he died this month.

He brought many communities together including Black, Chicano, White, incarcerated listeners, R & B, rockabilly, and rock aficionados.

Laboe also organized live shows at drive-ins to promote rock music, attracting Black and Latino listeners.

He started the Oldies but Goodies volumes through his company, founded in 1957. The young and old tuned in to listen to him.
