Jack Kirby co-created the Hulk, Captain America, the Fantastic Four, the Silver Surfer, and so many more. He would have been 100 years this year. He fought during WW II , and got frostbite on his feet.
He was an early supporter of the San Diego Comic-Con, along with Sergio Aragones, and a few others.
His wife Roz was also an artist and a great supporter of his work. The two of them died within a year/s of each other.
Jack did not get to fully enjoy the financial success of his creations. His heirs have as Marvel has settled with them, and all parties seem content.
Comic-con is devoting their cover to him this year.
The program book also has a section devoted to Kirby.
