Fences is directed by Denzel Washington, and stars Denzel and Viola Davis. It feels like a play and I see that it was a Broadway play prior to.
It is an intense movie with narrative on a constant move. It is the life of a working class couple and deals with many topics, raising children, marital issues, economic issues. It is well crafted with the editing on par with the directing.
I recommend the movie for everyone. It is seems like a sure bet for Denzel, Viola, and the movie itself.
Stephen McKinley Henderson is fantastic as Jim Bono. His acting is serene and natural.
Fences is based on the original 1983 play by August Wilson, and it is set in the 1950's.
